Synopsis[]

Mel tracks down Brady to find out more about Spencer. Hope answers Doc's question. Preacher makes a life-changing decision.

Plot[]

Hope drinks wine in her room following the encounter previously with Vernon. Vernon arrives moments later, and Hope remarks that she thought he had left. He jokes that they vowed "for better or for worse". Vernon explains that he loves Hope, and was in Seattle getting their engagement ring reset by an antique jeweller that Muriel knows. He took her to dinner as a thank you and that nothing more is going on. Hope tells him not to keep secrets from her in the future, but that she will marry him once more.

Mel and Jack spend the morning together at the cabin following their reunion the previous night. They pledge their love for each other once again. Jack is still upset about Spencer and is in disbelief over what Brady did. Mel remarks that he might not know everything but Jack simply responds that Brady won’t be honest with him. Mel asks him to take the day off to clear his head and not go looking to seek revenge on Calvin. He complies and the two agree to meet later. Mel calls Lilly to ask for the address to Emerald Lumber. She is reluctant as Calvin’s people are armed and dangerous, but eventually gives it to Mel, hoping that it could help them get information.

Connie and Lizzie go over to Lydie's house to talk with her and Ricky about what happened the previous night. She criticises them for having sex out of wedlock. The discussion quickly gets out of hand, and Lydie sticks up for Ricky against Connie, remarking that Ricky is a good guy and Lizzie would be lucky to have him. Besides, both are adults and there is nothing Connie and her can do about it. Connie is still angered, however, and tells Ricky to stay away from Lizzie before pulling Lizzie out of the house.

Back at Hope’s house, her and Vernon are enjoying the morning after getting re-engaged. They have breakfast together and agree to renews their vows in a ceremony with the whole town present.

Meanwhile, Preacher feels the pressure to come to a decision about the job he was offered in San Francisco by Jamie. He talks with Jack about the recent tension between them and the stress Jack has been under, and asks if Jack would consider making him a partner at the bar. Jack refuses, citing that he wouldn't want to ruin their friendship and leaves moments later when he receives an emergency message from Charmaine. After their discussion, Preacher leaves Jamie a voice mail accepting the job offer. Connie arrives and Preacher tells her that Wes is a missing person but also wanted so the police will not be looking for him. The two are happy that Paige and Christopher are finally safe but Preacher is still concerned about the man he saw that looked exactly like Wes. Connie brushes it off, saying that it is probably just his mind messing with him.

Mel arrives at the practice where she is met by Vernon, who asks if she can cover for him until later that night as he needs a consult on a patient in Eureka. Mel tells him that she is busy, but Vernon tells her that as she has her phone there are no issues with her leaving the practice. Vernon tells her that Hope agreed to renew their vows, and apologises for the way he has been treating her lately. He asks her to be a part of the ceremony, and she agrees before the two have a friendly embrace.

Jack arrives at Charmaine's house to find that her emergency was a blocked sink. He offers to fix the sink, but is sidetracked by a call from the realtor asking for his paperwork. Charmaine asks what Jack is buying, and when he explains the situation with the house.

Ricky comes home from work to find Lydia baking. He offers to help and apologises for the situation with Connie earlier. Lydie simply states that she did the right thing and as much as she loves Connie, admits that she can be a bit judgmental when it comes to other people. However, she reassures him that she has good intentions that are just misguided. She suggests that he take the cookies to Lizzie and tell her how he feels.

Mel decides to check out the lumberyard herself and bumps into Brady, who warns her off the property, citing that Calvin will kill both of them. He tells her to drive away and wait down the road, where he will meet her shortly, but it becomes clear that they have been seen by numerous people.

Charmaine and Jack talk as he continues to fix the sink. She praises him for buying and begins to vision what a life with twins will be like. She kisses him moments later but he pulls away, questioning what she was doing. Charmaine is confused, having assumed that they would be living together at the house. Jack makes it clear that they will not be doing so and it leads to an argument. Charmaine coldly says that she wants a husband and when she gets one, he will be the father, and Jack will have to figure out where he fits in.

Brady arrives to meet with Mel and she gets in his car as they drive off.

The ladies get together at the store when Hope arrives. Lizzie serves her at the till and apologises for having stolen her credit card, with Hope forgiving her. She announces her engagement to Vernon and shows off the ring. They question how Muriel is feeling, but Hope states that she actually helped Vernon with finding him a jeweller. She also mentions their plans for a vow renewal and the ladies begin bickering over where to host it as Hope listen and smiles.

Mel tells Brady to be honest with Jack as she is sure that he would forgive him despite everything that has happened. He takes her to Spencer's grave, showing her a small hand gun in the glove box of his vehicle as confirmation that he killed Spencer.

At the bar, Preacher becomes distracted when he thinks he sees Wes arrive once again. He starts talking to the man and it turns out that it is his twin brother, Vince. who is also a detective and is looking for Wes. He asks Preacher about Michelle, to which Preacher acts dumb but when he mentions the name Paige, Preacher confirms he knows her though is vague. Vince reveals that he knows Preacher and Paige had a thing and that he is somehow involved in his brother's disappearance. He asks him to give her a message, implied to be something threatening.

That night, Mel admits to Jack that she visited Brady, wanting to find out what really happened to Spencer. She shows Jack a video of Spencer getting on a bus, and reveals that Brady didn't kill him but helped him escape with his family. She also mentions that he got him in contact with Mike to testify. She reveals that Brady knows Calvin is bad news and regrets getting involved with him. He hopes that this mercy is one step closer to redemption. Mel and Jack talk about doing dangerous things for the people you love, which ends in the two sleeping together multiple times.

At the bar, Preacher cleans up as Bert leaves. The latter observes that he seems to have a lot on his mind and reassures him to not worry about the little things. Jamie appears at the bar and the two agree to meet in the city the next day after he hands in his resignation to Jack.

At the cabin, Mel and Jack are in each other’s arms on the floor. They continue to kiss and agree to meet at the bar for dinner.

Ricky visits Lizzie's house and throws rocks at her window to get her attention. He apologises for getting her in trouble and tells her that he loves her, a message which she returns too. Lizzie remarks that the two are like Romeo and Juliet, but Ricky sarcastically remarks that the two die in the end. They embrace and agree to continue meeting in secret.

Meanwhile, Jack receives a call citing that they have uncovered evidence of Calvin's business and his shipping of fentanyl in animal feed supply sacks, which is why they wanted Lilly’s farm. However, he reveals that Brady will also be arrested. The conversation is cut short when Mel presumably enters the bar.

Arriving home, Preacher bumps into Sally, a friend of Paige’s. She tells Preacher that Vince found her number and left her a message, therefore Christopher will need to stay with him for a while. As he runs over and embraces him, Preacher accepts with tears in his eyes.

At Hope's, Vernon tells Hope that he met a doctor in Eureka for a consult on himself. Hope remarks that he is starting to worry her. Before Vernon can explain, however, the doors to Hope's house fly open and it is shown that the town has thrown them a surprise party to celebrate their engagement.

Mel arrives at the bar for dinner with Jack as planned, but finds a struggle has occurred and Jack lying behind the bar, having been shot. Mel applies pressure and calls an ambulance, pleading with Jack to hold on and stay with her.
