Brie Sheridan is Jack's younger sister who makes her first appearance in Season 3. Introduced as a prestigious big city attorney, Brie moves to Virgin River to escape her past trauma and holds a dark secret: she was sexually assaulted by her ex boyfriend Don and has a drug addiction. After moving, she meets and forms a connection with Dan Brady. Their on again off again relationship due to his involvement with drugs, conflict with Jack, and her past trauma is one of their main storylines. The two continue to date in Season 4 and Season 5, before breaking up at the start of the season. Brie then pursues a relationship with Mike Valenzuela, who she is currently dating. Her other storylines include her relationships with her family, specifically her brother and her mother, as well as her court cases, including Preacher’s murder trial and her testimony in the sexual assault trial against her ex boyfriend.
History[]
Brie is the daughter of Amelia and Sam Sheridan. She has an older brother Jack, and three sisters. She also had another brother, Adam, who died before she was born.
She always wanted to be a lawyer, a career she ended up pursuing. Before her move to Virgin River, she was a high powered attorney in Sacramento.
6 months before her appearance in Virgin River, she began a relationship with a fellow lawyer named Don. The two had met at a fundraiser and had a strong connection from the start. At the beginning, things were fine but one night, tired from working all day, she rejected Don’s advances. Despite this, he took advantage of an unconscious Brie and raped her. This caused Brie to quit her job and escape to Virgin River. Initially, she doesn’t reveal the true reason for her visit and claims it has to do with seeing Jack after the shooting.
Struggles with substance abuse[]
Due to the stressful, demanding nature of her career, Brie developed severe anxiety. To combat this, she received a Xanax prescription, which she quickly began abusing. Particularly during her relationship with Don, she was using more than what she was supposed to. Brie would often mix her medication with alcohol to make it more effective. This addictive behaviour persisted even after Brie’s move to Virgin River. Things came to a head when one night, having once again mixed Xanax with wine, she collapses.
Season 3[]
Brie visits Jack after mysteriously leaving her job in Sacramento. Struggling with her recent break up, she finds comfort in Brady's arms, much to Jack's dismay. Brie's anxiety leads to her mixing Xanax with alcohol, after which she collapses and is rescued by Mel. Brie opens up to Mel about her brief and painful past. Suprisingly, she experiences miscarriage which was the result of her being raped by ex-boyfriend Dan. Brady visits Brie, unaware of her miscarriage, expressing his love for her. Mel and Brie meet to have lunch, and Brie reveals what happened back in Sacramento and tells abour her plans to leave town for a fresh start. Brady attempts to convince Brie to stay, interrupted by a sheriff's search warrant where Mike tells her that she deserves so much better than Brady. They arrest him for shooting Jack.
Season 4[]
Brie gets a new job offer in Virgin River and decides to stay. On her way back from job interview she encounters Mike who apologizes for mess with Brady and offers his assistance, just in time when Brady calls her from prison. Unbeknownst to her, Brady was not the one to shot Jack but he was framed by Vince, Paige's brother-in-law.
She is devastated when Brady is stabbed in prison by Calvin's accomplice as a warning. When Brady wakes up, Brie admits her love for him. On her way out she is threatened by Calvin to get Brady start running the Emerald Lumber's side business. She decides to investigate Emerald Lumber. Brie discovers Brady's escape plan and tells him Calvin threatened her at the hospital; she convinces him to lay a trap for Calvin. Brie asks Mike for help in investigating who paid Brady's bail. In return, Brie promises to buy Mike lunch which he gladly accepts. Together, they pay a visit to the bondsman's office and Brie befriends an assistant.
Mike informs Brie and Brady that all pending charges against Emerald Lumber employees have been dropped, which means Jimmy is out of jail. Jimmy is offered a new identity in exchange for testifiying against Calvin. He refuses, so Brady needs to push his buttons to get him to talk. After Jimmy accepts the deal, he shares Calvin's possible location may be on a boat Starkissed. Mike pays Brady a visit and tell him to cut Brie loose, because she has a lot more to loose than he has. Brie overhears and asks Brady not to ever do that.
Bondsman's assistant calls Brie to describe the donor who bailed out Brady: "Female, expensive suit, drives an SUV" . It is revealed to be Melissa Montgomerry, Jo Ellen's sister-in-law. Brady meets the real owner of Emerald Lumber, the puppeteer behind Calvin who turns out to be no other than Melissa. Melissa informs Brady that Brie is his collateral so can't back down.
Following a lead given by Jimmy, Brie checked for small water sources on a topography map and found an inconsistency. On current map there is no water sources near Shelter Mountain, but an older map shows a reservoir near a bridge. They embark on a waterfront sting operation, resulting in a boat explosion that possibly killed Calvin.
Brie receives a disturbing phone call from Don at Charmaine's baby shower, asking to vouch for him that he was not the reason she left the job. Brady comforts Brie. Brady visits Mel to discuss Brie and his rage issues. Mel gives Brady a pamphlet about a rape center to assist Brie. Brady tells Brie about asking Mel for advice, but she gets angry cause she doesn't want him to feel sorry for her. Brady struggles to support Brie. Don comes to Virgin River asking for Brie. He wants her to sign a nondisclosure agreement meaning no discussion about their relationship. In response, she decides to file a police report and press charges.
Mike informs Brady that Brie followed a lead from a DEA friend and found that Deputy Howard was helping Calvin launder money and admitted to planting the gun in Brady's truck. It means that Brady is a free man.
Season 5[]
Brie starts a day by pressing charges against Don and finding a good place to rent on her own. While unpacking her stuff, someone throws a rock at her window door. She tells Brady about it being a threat but he dismisses her.
Brie reveals to Jack about her being a rape survivor and how Brady has been there for her. Jack agrees to give Brady a second chance, unknowing that Brady is selling drugs out of the construction site. He is told to be there for a shipment but Brie makes dinner plans with him and Jack. His friend Jeb offers to take it over for him. Brady returns to work to find his friend dead.
Brie prepares for her rape case meeting with an attorney, while Brady lies about his relationship with Jeb, claiming he doesn't know him and attending his funeral out of respect for another employee. Brie is worried that her addiction to Xanax will be used to paint her as an addict who can't remember the events clearly. It can also leads to her losing her licence. Brie discovers Brady's lies from Jeb's wife Pauline. Pauline tells about how Brady helped with funeral arrangements and was rebuilding a motorcyckle with Jeb. Brie is devastated upon learning that Jeb died because he OD'd on fentanyl. She confronts Brady about it and he admits lying to her to protect her, especially after the rock was thrown at her door as a warning. She can't stand any more lies so she orders him to leave.
Brie's trial is almost there, but Brady is not there to support her after the incident from previous night. She meets Mike while buying coffe, and he advices her to repeat to herself what he does in a stressful situation: "I'm a big freaking deal. I've got an important job. People who count on me. And I've done a lot of work to get where I am.". Brady shows up at her door with dog tags as a lucky charm to remind her how strong she is. She tells him that the only way for them to get back together is finding a way out of this mess. Brady turns to Mike for help to make him a CI and he will give him all the intel he needs. Mike is reluctant at first, but changes his mind upon learning that Melissa threatened to hurt Brie and when he tried to push back, they threw a rock through her window.
Tension between Brie and her mother Amelia rises before the trial. At the trial, Brie's substance abuse is brought to light questioning her integrity. During a recess, she bumps into a familiar face. After giving a heartfelt speach, she is joined by Mike who sticked around to cheer her up but they are interrupted by a call about wildfire in Virgin River.
Brie and Mike are at her mother's house waiting for news about the wildfire. Amelia points out that Brady is not there to support Brie. During dinner Amelia says that Jack is the strong one in the family, but Mike says that Brie is also very strong but she totally dismisses Brie. They fight and Brie leaves, fortunately Mike is there to support her. Brie and Amelia share a heartfelt conversation. Mike shares good news that there are no casualties in Virgin River. Brie and Mike share an intimate hug.
Brie comes back to Virgin River and meets Brady. She reminisces about her lack of trust and not feeling safe with him. Proving her point, he can't reveal his actions toward getting out of this situation. Brie confides in Mel about her situation with Mike and Brady. Mike visits Brie and she informs him about the positive verdict. He apologizes for what almost happened in Sacramento between them and wants all what's best for her. She admits wanting the same thing and that being the reason why something almost happened. At a community event Brie asks Mike to play baseball and they are interrupted by Brady. Out of jealousy he emphasizes that she found someone perfect to talk to: good cop, dependable and honest - all the things he's not. Mike tries to reason with him that they are jkjust friends but Brady does not believe it. Brady learns that Mike was in Sacramento at the same time as Brie's trial and helped her get through it. He grabs Mike angrily and quickly realizes his mistake but Brie officialy breaks up with him.
After a game of video baseball, Brie asks Mike to sub in for a shortstop in her company's softball team. She receives a text from Brady saying he is sorry about the other day and hopes she can forgive him.
At the match Mike is noticed by Brie's teammates which makes her be even more impressed by him. The game is interrupted by rain. Brie tells Mike her co-workers are his biggest fans so he asks what about her and they share a kiss.
Brie visits Mike at the hospital after he was shot trying to rescue Brady and arrest Melissa. She confronts Brady at the hospital and they share their feelings toward each other and how things have changed. Brady apologizes for putting her and Mike in this position. Mike wakes up with Brie by his bedside. Drinking chocolate shakes at the hospital, Brie asks if this is how he pictured their first date. Mike sets the facts straight to Brie that Brady is the real hero and he risked everything for Brie and if it changes anything then he wants to know but she responds that she wants to see how it goes.
Brie and Mike are at her house preparing for her family's arrival. Her father suddenly arrives after running into his wife with her new boyfriend at the B&B he was supposed to stay at. She tries to talk to her mom about her new boyfriend coming for their Christmas but with no luck. Brie talks with Brady after seeing him with Lark and Hazel. She talks about not knowing how well he could skate to which he jokes that there's a lot of things she doesn't know about him and Brie point out that this was always the problem. She says she is happy for what he has with Lark but he can't say the same about her and Mike.
Sheridan family drama goes on and Brie along with Jack need to find a way to make their parents reconcile. In the end it turns out Sam has a lot in common with Javi.
Season 6[]
Brie takes on Preacher's case and struggles with find a solution that will keep him out of jail. Kaia worries that Preacher could spend life in prison and asks Brie for some hope. Mike advices Brie to picture him in underwear when she gets stressed at the trial. Brie informs Preacher that Jack has been called as a surprise witness against him.
Brie, along with Preacher, Kaia, Mike and Jack try to brainstorm about Jack's involvement in the trial. At the trial, the voice message to Jack is played with Preacher saying that everything with Page worked out which is the contrary of his earlier statement. He is offered a plea deal but he rejects it. Instead he wants Brie to put him on the stand.
At the stand, Preacher tells the truth that Wes's death was an accident and he covered to protect innocent family from abusive husband and father. Brie gives a passionate speach about Paige's trauma following her, which Mike deduces is an implication of Don. Back at the house, Brie tries to seduce him, he rejects her and in turn wants to talk about what happened. Brie gets angry saying that she just wants to feel normal and wanted. The Jury is unable to reach a verdict and Preacher is only charged with a misdemeanor. At Jack's Bar Brie encounters Brady taking care of Hazel. Later she is told by Lark that she should never let Brady go.
Brie prepares for Mel's bachelorette party. Mike apologizes for pushing Brie the other night and Brie thanks him for making sure she is okey. At the party she admits to Kaia about being torn over Mike and Brady. Drunkenly she calls Brady to tell him she still thinks about him.
At the restaurant, Brady closes up, ready to leave for the drive-in. Brie shows though and drops the bombshell truth about Lark. Brady is hurt and tries to kick her out. She waits for him to calm down before speaking again. Brady starts going off about how Lark’s betrayal is his karma, but Brie tells him that she was the one at fault for making him question if he is worthy of love. She goes on to say that she knows better now, and he deserves all the love. In turn, he says that everything he knows about love came from her. They get all hot and heavy as they comfort each other and start kissing. One kiss leads to another, and they end up sleeping together. The scene cuts to Lark dumping Jimmy again over the phone. She is convinced Brady loves her.
Brie bumps into Brady and Kaia on their way to work with Kaia quickly deducing they hook up and Brady still has feeling for Brie.
Mike shows Brie he fixed her dripping kitchen sink. Jack comes to ask for legal advice involving Calving and Charmaine. Brie advices Charmaine to get a restraining order.
Mike tells her he can always say when 2 people have slept together, which worries Brie that he finds out about her and Brady. Brie finds out her parents are together and Mike was right. Brie opens up to Jack about her troubles with sleeping. In the meantime, Mike checks if Calvin or his known associates are planning something, but he only made Brady angry.
Brie and Mike are waiting for Brie's father arrival. Mike comes out of the shower and asks if he can use her deodorant since he left his at the motel. Brie suggests him bringing all of his stuff to her place, meaning moving in together. At the rehearsal, Brie asks Mike what is going on with her parents, to which he says that they are sleeping together. At first she laughs, but he implies their body language speaks for themselves and he can always say if two people slept together. Later that evening, Mike sneaks in to her dad's bedroom to grab board games and finds Brie's parents together, proving his theory.
At breakfast, Brie and Mike talk to her parents about them getting back together. Brie bumps into Lark while getting coffee and is surprised to hear she is fine after what she did to Brady and admits to be the one to tell him about her lies. Not knowing about them being still together, Brie says she does not have to pretend to like her anymore. At Jack and Mel's wedding she is shocked to see Brady with Lark by his side. They go to talk to each other in private with Lark following them. Brie can't believe Brady forgave Lark because she thinks he deserves someone who matches him, challenges him and brings out the best in him. He says he was with someone like that but she did not want him anymore. She credits him as the person who helped her forget what she had been through. They admit how both fell in love with each other with Brady saying that Brie was always the one for him and the question was whether he was the one for her. She replies that he was but he messed it up, angrying him, because he did it all to protect her and he would do it all over again if it meant her being safe. They are overheard by Lark, who is seen crying.
Brie confesses cheating on Mike to Kaia and Mel. They discuss her feeling for both guys with Brie not knowing what to do. Meanwhile, Brady finds out from Jo Ellen that Lark left the party, as well as the B&B she was staying at along with her housekeeping job there. He wants to call her but as soon as he gets his phone he gets notified that his account balance is now $0. It means Lark stole his money and left. After the wedding, Mike proposes to Brie and she confesses sleeping with Brady. To her surprise, he admits that he already knows.
