Calvin is the leader of a large-scale cannabis farm in Virgin River and the local gang leader. Following Brady's anger with Jack, Calvin becomes his boss, bringing him into his "business." This eventually causes issues with Jack, who doesn't want Brady getting hurt.
History[]
Clashes with Jack[]
Jack indirectly must associate with Calvin when he and Mel are taken to Calvin's farm by force to treat a gunshot to the leg. Jimmy warns the two that they can not leave until Calvin recovers, but will not be leaving at all if he dies. Eventually, Calvin recovers, and allows the two to leave the farm.
Calvin becomes a larger issue for Mel and Jack when he will not allow a newborn and her mother to the hospital after complications during birth. Eventually, Vernon arrives on the farm and is able to convince Calvin to allow them to leave; it becomes clear that Vernon and Calvin have a deal in which he treats Calvin's people.
Brady's involvement[]
After Dan Brady becomes tired of Jack and his reluctance to make him "Bar Manager", he plans to leave the bar. This is furthered when Calvin approaches and shows him the potential he could earn as one of his workers. Brady eventually quits the bar and begins working for Calvin.
Brady negotiates the sale of Lilly's farm to Calvin under the guise of log work — unknowingly, they are shipping and recieveing drugs to other countries. Calvin becomes furious when this deal falls through as a result of Jack's meddling in his affairs.
As a result of the deal falling through, Calvin begins warning Jack to stay out of his way. This begins with verbal warnings, but eventually leads to Calvin authorising the death of Spencer, who agreed to talk to the police about Calvin and his illegal activities. When Jack continues digging, however, Calvin sends one of his men to work for Jack, and purposefully poisons his food at the bar to destroy his reputation.
Death[]
As the police close in on his drug ring, he is on a boat which is set on fire, causing many to believe he was dead. It is later revealed once Melissa Montgomery was in prison, that he had faked his death. In Father Christmas, it is revealed that the charges against him were dropped as he helped the FBI catch Melissa.
Personality[]
Calvin is "the unquestioned leader of the largest of the many illegal pot fields that litter the landscape around Virgin River".[1]
Trivia[]
- Jimmy is his second in command, but it is hinted that he favours Brady more.
- He uses a walking stick after being shot in the leg.
- It is revealed in Labor Day that he faked his death and that he is the father of Charmaine Roberts's twin sons.
