Daniel "Denny" Cutler is the grandson of Dr. Vernon Mullins.
He is dating Lizzie, who is Connie's niece.
History[]
When he first arrives in Virgin River, he rents a room at Jo Ellen and Nick's B&B. When he reveals that he came to town to find his long lost grandfather, it shocks Vernon. The man grows even more shocked when Denny reveals that Rose, a woman who left him many years ago, had a son, Ryan. Ryan was his father and was now deceased. [1]
Eventually, Doc invites him to move into a room at the clinic but Hope invites him to move into the spare bedroom in her home with her and Doc, sometime later.[2]
During the course of his time living with Hope and Vernon, he begins to bond with Lizzie, ultimately starting a relationship with her. He also comes across financial papers which he photographs and later reveals his huntington's disease. [3]
During the wildfires, he and Lizzie head out to make sure Bert Gordon had gotten out safely. When they end up stuck in the fire, Bert managed to save them.
In the aftermath of the wildfire, he admitted to Lizzie that he didn't want to go back to Stanford.[4] As Lizzie had been hired to be Hope's Chief of Staff, he began looking for a job and had multiple interviews in the town, including Bert's garage. That same evening, he reveals to Doc that his Grandma was coming to town to check on him.[5]
When Denny's grandma comes visit him, she convinces him to leave Virgin River. Just before asking if Lizzie wants to come with, she suddenly reveals that she’s pregnant. At Christmas, they reveal they expect a baby girl.
In season 6, Lizzie convinces Denny to think about asking Vernon to hire him as an intern at the clinic to get experience since he is interested in emergency medicine. He gets an internship at Doc's clinic.
Lizzie and Denny are uncertain about their future. Denny does not want to burden Lizzie by his care. Lizzie and Denny hit a rough patch as he keeps bringing up the future and how to plan for when he won’t be there. He wants to test the baby once she is born, but Lizzie feels differently. After fighting for days, Lizzie and Denny find common ground about what to do with their daughter. They agree to test her after they get to know her. Denny takes Lizzie to the clinic to do an ultrasound. They decide to name the child after Denny’s late mother.
