Jo Ellen Fitch is a woman in Hope's sewing circle who owns the local B&B with her husband Nick.

History

Jo Ellen is first introduced as a woman who owns the only hotel in Virgin River. As she sees new arrivals to town, she is known as a town gossip. She is among the group of ladies who are friends with Muriel St. Claire,Connie,Lydie,Lilly Anderson, and Hope McCrea. She quickly befriends Mel when she arrives in town.

When the town began to choose sides between Mel and Charmaine, she told Mel that she was on her side.

When Hope is in her accident, she worries about her friend and tells Nick this information. He uses it to oust Hope as Mayor for the town, which upset Hope. However once Hope was able to successfully keep their townspeople safe during the wildfire, Hope gets her job back. When it was safe to return home, she learned that the B&B was partially destroyed, causing her to go into business with her sister-in-law Melissa Montgomery.
