Kaia Bryant is a character in Virgin River who is introduced in Season 5.
History[]
Not much is known about Kaia’s early life other than the fact that she joined the Fire Academy in Colorado to become a firefighter. There, she met Jay, who she later married. At some point, the two separated. She has a complicated relationship with her family, particularly her father, who opposes her decision to divorce Jay.
Help during the wildfires[]
With the California wildfires rampant, Kaia and her team came out to help the residents. Before the fire reached Virgin River, she came across a pregnant woman in labor on the side of the road. She called Vernon Mullins' clinic where she spoke with Dr. Hayek and Muriel St. Claire about needing help. Melinda Monroe is called in as the woman is a patient of hers. Cameron and Mel proceed to talk to Kaia through face-time and guide her through delivering the baby.
Relationship with Preacher[]
After delivering the baby, she heads to the bar where she meets and flirts with Preacher. The two have a drink and wind up spending the night together.
After the fires reach neighboring areas of Virgin River, Jay is injured, which reveals her former relationship with the man to Preacher. She then decides to go through with a divorce instead of getting back together so she can be with Preacher.
When Jay comes to the bar with the news that their crew was heading out to fight wild-fires in Alaska, at first she rushed off to pack. This doesn't surprise Jay as he tells Preacher that she always put work first. The next morning she goes to leave Preacher's bed with no set return date. Later that same day however, she returns to the bar to tell Preacher that she decided to fight fire in California and was staying in town.
During the carnival she receives a call from her new boss revealing that the team found a dead body.
