Kaia Bryant is a firefighter who is introduced in Season 5.

History

Prior to her introduction, she joined the fire academy in Colorado to become a firefighter. At fire academy, she met Jay who she later married. At some point, they separated.

With the California wildfires, they both came out to help. Before the fire reached Virgin River, she came across a pregnant woman in labor on the side of the road. She then called into Vernon Mullins' clinic where she spoke with Dr. Hayek and Muriel St. Claire about needing help. Melinda Monroe is called in as the woman was a patient of hers. Cameron and Mel then proceeded to talk to her through face-time as she had to help the laboring woman deliver her baby.

After delivering the baby, she heads to the bar where she meets and flirts with Preacher. After the fires reach neighboring areas of Virgin River, Jay is injured, which reveals her former relationship with the man to Preacher. She then decides to go through with a divorce instead of getting back together so she can be with Preacher.

When Jay comes to the bar with the news that their crew was heading out to fight wild-fires in Alaska, at first she rushed off to pack. This doesn't surprise Jay as he tells Preacher that she always put work first. The next morning she goes to leave Preacher's bed with no set return date. Later that same day however, she returns to the bar to tell Preacher that she decided to fight fire in California and was staying in town.

During the carnival she receives a call from her new boss revealing that the team found a dead body.
