Lydie is a woman in Hope McCrea's sewing circle and the grandmother of Ricky Sudder.
History[]
At some point prior to the show, her husband died as did her daughter, causing her to be the one who has custody of her grandson.
When Ricky leaves for basic training, she now living alone. The day of the wildfire, Hope McCrea tries to get her to leave home, but she is still there packing up her things when Lizzie and Denny come by to check on Bert Gordon. They manage to talk her into leaving, allowing her to get to safety.

- Before she married Herb, she was involved with Chip Cooper, the old post-master general. She reveals that she was still in touch with the man.
