Muriel Saint Claire is a woman in Hope's sewing circle. She was a movie star and moved to Virgin River in retirement.
History[]
Not much is known about Muriel's origins other than the fact that she was an actress for a number of years. At some point after her acting career ended, she moved to Virgin River and became friends with the ladies in the sewing circle. Despite being part of the group, she and Hope were only civil and didn't like each other.
Relationship with Vernon Mullins[]
When Hope and her husband Vernon Mullins are having relationship problems, Muriel forms a bond with him due to some of their mutual interests. She tries to pursue a relationship with Vernon by cooking for him, playing games, going to a dance class and a Vivaldi concert. However, before the relationship could go further, he and Hope fix their marriage and Vernon puts a stop to things.
The two decide to stay friends and continue supporting one another. Muriel helps Vernon by getting him in touch with a vintage jeweller in Seattle to reset Hope’s engagement ring.
After Lilly's death and Hope's accident, she went out of her way to be supportive and comfort the woman, resulting in them growing closer. After Hope's accident, while many of the members of the town council voted to remove Hope from office, she was the only one who voted to keep Hope as mayor.
Relationship with Cameron[]
When Mel left the practice, she volunteered to help Cameron Hayek with the paperwork that he had been tasked to do. This results in her becoming their office manager, a position she retains after Mel returns to work.
After the wild-fire, she lost her home resulting in her staying at first with Connie then with Cameron. While staying with Cameron, they realized that they were attracted to each other. After Muriel spoke with Vernon, she and Cameron began a relationship.
Cameron's ex-wife comes back at Christmas to apologize for everything she did as a part of a step she had to make at AA meetings. Muriel realizes she will never give Cameron a real family cause she won't have kids. Initially, Cameron says he is okay with family of two but as the time passes he decided to reconcile with his ex-fiancée, as he ultimately wanted to start a family which Muriel did not want. This decision was made between seasons 5 and 6 after his ex reached out to him for a second chance.
After breakup[]
In season 6, Muriel asks Hope to drive her to the biopsy appointment and swears her to secrecy. After the appointment, they return to the restaurant and join the sewing circle. Hope convinces the ladies to have a day off and have fun. As a result, they start drinking and share some fun, intimate details about their lives. Things heat up when Kaia and Brie forget to cancel the stripper, and he ends up giving Muriel a lap dance.
Hope does everything to keep Muriel's diagnosis a secret. She goes as far as to try change a movie at the car cinema. Muriel seeing her support breaks the news of her diagnosis to the rest of the ladies, and they promise to be there for each other.
The sewing circle play matchmaker for Muriel and try to get her on a date with Walt. They eventually start dating and attend Jack and Mel's wedding together.
